The 2000 dinghy Nationals

At the time of writing this and all through the week Tenby Sailing Club have been hosting the 2000’s class, and concludes today the 16th. A full report will be in next week’s observer.

The Club has put on a dinghy class national every year since the first one held in 1976 and we have never missed a year. It brings in approx £20,000 to the town which is a great economic boost. Some classes of boat may be single handed but a lot more boats come down, others are the double handers, and not so much of a big fleet but very family orientated so no matter what class nationals are held there is a big increase in the tourists visiting thanks to the efforts of Tenby Sailing Club.

Commodores Quiz

This year we are raising funds for a Defibrillator to be sited outside the club at the bottom of the stone steps by the big doors. Due to the location this will also have to be a heated cabinet, the defib will then be listed on the local network and will benefit the wider community and visitors alike as there will be a defib situated on the harbour. Due to the location the defib box will have to be a heated one for obvious reasons, and they carry the cost of £1300 complete.

The next quiz (although a break from tradition) will be held Fri 30th August at 1930 so come down the club and have a bit of fun while raising money for our Defib. Cost of the entry to the quiz is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. There will be a league running for the whole year up to the final in November, you don’t have to be part of the league just come for a laugh whilst raising money. Alongside the quiz there will be a raffle, all prize donations will be gratefully received.
