Dinghy Racing

Last Sunday’s race was a little problematic at the start as the fleet had light but enough wind to sail, however after the second lap the wind dropped. After some waiting and debating we decided to call it on lap 2 times and cancelling the 2nd race. Calm conditions and a little bit of drizzle to finish it off as we were coming in. The Results are as follows, in 1st place was John Nuttal and crew in the Laser 2000, 2nd Dyfan Williams in his RS Aero 7 then in 3rd was Ted Lewis and Lucas Boissevain in the first of the three Ospreys to eventually cross the line. 4th place went to Carwyn and crew and then Mike Stace and Deanna Morten.

Junior Sailing

Last Wednesday was yet another very successful session out on the water

Many thanks to all the other helpers and volunteers who give up their time every Wednesday to ensure the kids get on and off the water safely and in good time. The evening concluded with excellent BBQ food served up by The Harbour Restaurant and it was enjoyed by all.

Just a quick reminder to all registered juniors, please turn up by 1700 planning to get on the water by 1745.  All sessions are weather permitting but sailing sessions are never cancelled as there is onshore sessions that have to take place in order to complete the course.

If you require any more information then please phone Blake on 07717842713

Commodores Quiz

There was another fantastic turn out for the Commodores Quiz last Saturday, and due to the CARTEN being postponed the Commodore was on top form and not as tired as he might have been. Eight teams took part this month with the scores on the doors looking like this, In first place as ever the Cola Clan with 49 points, then the Bo Ho’s with 48. Third place Gangsters Allardyce with 44 points and Fourth goes to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock (Yes from Friends) with 40 points. Then fifth the 4 Amigo’s with35, the Dashers were in sixth with 37 then seventh Shalom with 33 and last but not by any means least Lone Dogs with 27. Just as a heads up as the last Saturday in the month is only a day into June there will be two quizzes then. So Mays quiz will be the 1st June and Junes Quiz will be 29th June still four weeks in between.

This year we are raising funds for a Defibrillator to be sited outside the club at the bottom of the stone steps by the big doors. Due to the location this will also have to be a heated cabinet, the defib will then be listed on the local network and will benefit the wider community and visitors alike as there will be a defib situated on the harbour. Due to the location the defib box will have to be a heated one for obvious reasons, and they carry the cost of £1300 complete.

So, the next quiz will be held on Saturday 1st June at 1930 so make it a date in your diary and come down the club and have a bit of fun while raising money for our Defib. Cost of the entry to the quiz is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. There will be a league running for the whole year up to the final in November, you don’t have to be part of the league just come for a laugh whilst raising money. Alongside the quiz there will be a raffle, all prize donations will be gratefully received.

If anyone would like to donate to the Defib Fund please get in contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Let’s hope they keep it on home turf this year.

This year we are hosting the 2000 National Championships from the 10th to the 16th of August 2019

There are positions both on and off the water so no sailing experience is necessary if you would like to volunteer or have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch
