Dinghy Racing

Sunday 07 April saw a good-sized fleet of nine boats take to the water in the first two races. The bay had a nice breeze albeit a little lumpy to begin with. After the first race finished the wind dropped and shifted slightly but the sun made it nice to stay out there and carry on racing. There was even a fly past by a Royal Navy EH101 Helicopter commonly known as the Marlin.

The results for race one are as follows; In first place in one of the Ospreys was Dan and Carwyn, then the Scorpion of Peta and Oscar, Mike and Deanna in their Osprey, then Dyfan in his RS Aero 7 closely followed by Ed and Emily in the RS500. Next over the line was Ted and Lucas in another Osprey, Sophie in a Laser Radial, Jamie and Tim in the last Osprey and then Ioan in his Laser Radial

The second race saw a change at the top with Peter and Oscar taking first in the Scorpion, then the first Osprey to cross the line was Ted and Lucas then Sophie in the Radial Dyfan was next in the Aero with Dan and Carwyn coming next in the second Osprey. In the lower half of the fleet came Mike and Deanna in the third Osprey then Ed and Emily in the 500, Richard Johns in a Laser Radial then Jamie and Tim in the last Osprey.

Race three’s first over the line was Peter and Oscar once again in the Scorpion, second Dyfan in the Aero, Richard in a Radial then Ed and Emily in the RS 500. Closely followed by Mike and Deanna, Dan and Carwyn and Ted with Lucas in their Ospreys.

Members only Lounge

The committee are pleased to say that the top room has been going through an extensive refurbishment and is nearing completion. The volunteers headed up by Martin Munroe and Dan Jackson have done a sterling job, not only in the decorating but securing grants to help in the project. This will be a versatile space for private events, training and members lounge.

Commodores Quiz

This year we are raising funds for a Defibrillator to be sited outside the club at the bottom of the stone steps by the big doors. Due to the location this will also have to be a heated cabinet, the defib will then be listed on the local network and will benefit the wider community and visitors alike as there will be a defib situated on the harbour. We are aiming to raise £1,300 to cover the cost.

The next quiz will be held on Saturday 27th April at 1930 so make it a date in your diary and come down the club and have a bit of fun while raising money for our Defib. Cost of the entry to the quiz is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. There will be a league running for the whole year up to the final in November, you don’t have to be part of the league just come for a laugh whilst raising money. Alongside the quiz there will be a raffle, all prize donations will be gratefully received.
