The Dinghy racing season has now commenced, Sunday the 31st March saw the good-sized fleet of nine boats take to the water. Wind direction was onshore, coming in from the east. Wind speed was about 15mph gusting 20. Sea state was a little bit bumpy to start and then calmed down towards the end of the racing. General weather, cloudy for most of it although we did get a peek at the sun a few times.

The results for race one are as follows, In first place in the RS400 was Steve and Jasmin, then the RS500 of Ed and Emily, Peter and Oscar in their Scorpion, Ted and Lucas in the Osprey closely followed by Mike and Deanna also in an Osprey. Next over the line was Dyfan in the RS Aero 7, Jamie and Tim in an Osprey, Carwyn in a Laser Radial and then Sophie in the Laser 4.7.

The second race saw a change at the top with Peter and Oscar taking first in the Scorpion, then two Ospreys crossed the line these were Ted and Lucas then Mike and Deanna. Steve and Jasmin were next in the RS400 with Ed and Emily in the RS500 coming next. The lower half of the fleet remained unchanged with Dyfan, Jamie and Tim, Carwyn and Sophie coming over the line.

Please see the website for full details.

Members only Lounge

The committee are pleased to say that the top room has been going through an extensive refurbishment and is nearing completion. The volunteers headed up by Martin Munroe and Dan Jackson have done a sterling job, not only in the decorating but securing grants to help in the project. This versatile space will provide facilities for training, events and functions as well as a members only lounge.

Commodores Quiz

There was an excellent turn out for the monthly Commodore’s quiz, in true form top of the teams was the Cola Clan then in order came the Birthday Bashers, The Bo Ho’s, Princess Consuela Banana Hammock, The Dashers, The 4 Amigo’s, Hopeful and then the Lone Dogs.

This year we are raising funds for a Defibrillator to be sited outside the club at the bottom of the stone steps by the big doors. Due to the location this will also have to be a heated cabinet. The defib will then be listed on the local network and will benefit the wider community and visitors alike as there will be a defib situated on the harbour. The cost of the defibrillator will be £1300.

The next quiz will be held tonight (05/04/2018) at 19.00 (for pre-quiz bangers and mash) so come down to the club and have a bit of fun while raising money for our Defib. Cost of the entry to the quiz is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. There will be a league running for the whole year up to the final in November, you don’t have to be part of the league just come to enjoy the atmosphere whilst raising money for a great cause. Alongside the quiz there will be a raffle, all prize donations will be gratefully received.
