Message from our Club Secretary Jim

Tenby Sailing Club plays an important role in encouraging young people to take up sailing and learn the skills of having fun on the water in safety. It was one of the reasons I took up the appointment of Secretary of the Club. Young people are inspired by the older generation who have knowledge and skill to pass on. Everyone remembers the teacher who inspired them. So, we have a responsibility to support the next generation, which is why, this week Sun 17th March, I am running Reading Half Marathon with two skate boards on my back!

At 73 years of age and surviving cancer I feel blessed to still be able to physically undertake this type of event. If you would like to support my fund-raising efforts, then please go to my ‘Just Giving’ page – James Cornwell – Tenby Jubilee Play & Skate Park Appeal.

Alternatively, please send messages of good luck or suggestions as to who I should contact to stop me doing these crazy things!

Membership forms can be obtained from either the club’s website www.tenbysailingclub.org.uk or at the club itself. The membership rates for this current year remained unchanged as agreed by the members at the AGM. There are many advantages to being a member, a few of which are discounted bar prices, access to showers and toilets on the harbour and priority for social events, please see the website for full details. To this end anyone who is in possession of a changing room/showers fob that have not renewed their membership by the end of April, will no longer be able to use their fob.

Commodores Quiz

This year we are raising funds for a Defibrillator to be sited outside the club at the bottom of the stone steps by the big doors. Due to the location this will also have to be a heated cabinet, the defib will then be listed on the local network and will benefit the wider community and visitors alike as there will be a defib situated on the harbour. The heated units carry the cost of £1300 complete.

So please come down to the next quiz night Saturday 30th March at 1930 to have a bit of fun while raising money for our Defib. Cost of the entry to the quiz is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. There will be a league running for the whole year up to the final in November you don’t have to be part of the league just come for a laugh whilst raising money. Alongside the quiz there will be a raffle, all prize donations will be gratefully received.

If anyone would like to donate to the Defib Fund please get in contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

T.S.C. Regatta sponsored by Lewis Lewis and Co

The club’s annual regatta will be held on Saturday the 22nd June and the round Caldey race on Sunday 23rd. The club is proud to announce the continued support and sponsorship from Lewis Lewis & Co Solicitors of Tenby. Lewis and Lewis have been there to support the club over the years and it is they who sponsor the team prize so very generously.  There was a good turn out last year with the Tenby Sailors winning the team prize of £500. Let’s hope they keep it on home turf this year.

This year we are hosting the 2000 National Championships from the 10th to the 16th of August.

We would not be able to put on these events without the help of willing volunteers, so if you would like to help out on all or some of these dates please get in touch. There are positions both on and off the water so no sailing experience is necessary if you would like to volunteer or have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch

The club’s website can be found at www.tenbysailingclub.org.uk  the club and details of events going on can be found on Facebook and Twitter. New members welcome; sailors, aspirant sailors and non-sailors. We are a member’s club run by volunteers who try to involve all members in a variety of activities both sailing and social. To enquire about joining contact s online, call at the clubhouse or contact any member who will be pleased to help.
