Weekly Report 20/07/2018

Club Sailing

One race took place tuesday night with a good turnout and reasonable wind, it was a port triangle race with force 2 /3 winds. All the ospreys gota good start, especially Carwyn and Andy who were quick over the line and first to the windward mark. Unfortunately they couldn’t hold of Dibby and Mike for long, after 4 laps the race was by Mike on the water, with PY handicap results not yet calculated.

Cruiser races

Another great race last Saturday evening.  With tidal conditions allowing a linger time on the water a course was set around DZ2, Woolhouse and North high Cliff buoys all to be left to  port. With the wind in the SW Force 4 it was a long 2 mile reach to DZ2 but Blake and his team in Slipstream decided who dares wins and hoisted their spinnaker.  It did not seem to pay at first but eventually Slipstream started pulling away from the rest and arrived at the buoy just ahead of Tony in Apatshe . It was then a long 2 mile beat to windward passing the oolhouse Rock buoy to NHC. Slipstream was still ahead at the buoy with Apatshe , then Steve in Aries and Roy in Chiron  following on. Another tight spinnaker leg followed back to the finish at the Harbour. On corrected time the order was still the same as the finishing positions. Next race is on Sunday at 1.30pm. Hope to see the full fleet on the water.

Junior Report

Although numbers were down due to the football world cup, conditions were good for sailing with a wind further out.Hope to see a full turnout next week. Again many thanks to all the helpers on and off the water.
